Yet another video app?
Yes! We answer this in detail here.
When can I try the app?
We are working with a small group of people to refine our experience first, and will open up access to more folks as our app stabilizes and we can better support a broader user-base.
Will Helmer be open-source?
Not at launch. We are iterating on ideas at a pace wherein inviting collaborators and feedback from the community can significantly slow us down if not done in a structured manner. Once our foundations are stable, we will consider open-sourcing parts of the project.
Are you hiring?
No. We are currently not looking to expand the team.
How is Micro different from Helmer?
We created Micro as a demo project for scap — our developer-tool for capturing screens. It is only designed to capture high-quality GIFs and does nothing else.
Is Micro open-source?
Yes. All the source code for Helmer Micro is available on Github.
What happened to my Micro license?
Everyone with a Micro license will get a 1 year subscription for our upcoming video app, Helmer.
When will new features be added?
We are currently focused on Helmer, our upcoming app. Micro was only meant as a small community-supported showcase for our libraries, and as such has no further planned features.
What is scap?
Scap is an efficient, high-performance screen capture library for developers to embed in their applications. It is cross-platform and written in Rust, with support for macOS, Windows and Linux.
Which platforms does it support?
Scap is created to run on macOS, Windows and Linux. The community is also considering the effort it will take to support iOS and Android.
How can I contribute?
You can find scap and all it's related discussions at https://www.github.com/CapSoftware/scap — some of Helmer and Cap team members are also available for discussion in the Cap Discord server.
